The Greatest Gift

“Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.”
Isaiah 7:14

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us.”
Matthew 1:23

It began when an angel of the Lord came down to Mary and told her she was chosen by God to give birth to His son. Her betrothed Joseph was told of the miracle of her pregnancy. Together, due to census of Caesar, they travelled to Bethlehem. It was in a meager that Mary gave birth to the savior of the world.

Announced by choir of angels and visited by shepherds and magi, the baby Jesus was ushered into the world of men. His name Immanuel proclaimed that God would walk among us once more as He did before in the Garden of Eden. By Jesus Christ we could return to the presence of God.

Often, the greatest gift is the one often shrugged or least understood. To know what God sacrificed in order to bring Jesus into this world brings better appreciation of the coming of Christ. Despite God’s anger for our disobedience, His love made a way for us to return to Him. Though He was the King of kings and great Teacher, Jesus was willing to die on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins.

Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Jesus Christ
John 15:13

Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year :D
